The purpose of Lemuria is to repel, expel, exorcise, or propitiate ghosts. The ritual occurs in the middle of the night (media nocte) because the dead are most active when the living are asleep or in general darkness.
Both midnight and noon are considered to be “thresholds” during which creatures, such as ghosts [and demons], may cross over into opposing or adjacent realms.
Celebration the tradition of Lemuria with a commemorative shirt, by Far Out and Fancy.
The front of the shirt features a colorful and artisian graphic with a bold Lemuria logo.
On the back, you can see the lineup of DJs from the night to remember this new Atlanta Halloween tradition.
